The Speaker of the 9th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has directed the National Youth Council of Nigeria to focus attention on security challenges during their up-coming International Youth Week.
Williams who stated this while the youth leaders paid him a courtesy visit to his office, expressed concern on the poor state of security prevalent in the Country and advised that their sensitization program should be based more on security issues.
Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, Comrade Great Ogban, highlighted the activities of the week which includes radio educational campaign and Youth Forum across the 18 local government areas towards building the nation. According to him, the International Youth Week which is slated on the 5th-12th of August 2019 is focused on enhancing education amongst young persons.
Also speaking, Rt. Hon. Ekpo Ekpo Bassey representing Bakassi state constituency emphasized that the Youth Council has a role to play in curbing conflict in various local governments across the State.
