RICKETTS ENJOINS APC MEMBERS TO VOTE FOR QUALITY REPRESENTATION.

As the race hots up for political parties to pick their flagbearers to represent the party at the different levels in the forthcoming 2019 general elections,a contender for the Central Senatorial District on the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC)Obol Akin Ricketts has enjoin Party faithfuls to remain focused in their determination to hand him the APC's mandate in the forthcoming Central Senatorial primary election scheduled for Tuesday,2/10/18 for a better and people oriented representation of the people unlike previously experienced .

Obol Ricketts stated this while addressing party supporters at a rally in Ugep to round off his consultations which took him round communities in the six local government areas of the Central Senatorial District, saying that he is in the race to win and make a difference in the lives of the electorate and citizens of the district.

He maintained that his aspiration is fully on track and no amount of appeal would make him sit with those who are opposed to the agitation of the Senatorial District especially from the old Obubra province comprising Obubra and Yakurr local governments, two specific Local Government Areas yet to have the opportunity in representing the Central Senatorail District since the return of democracy in 1999.

Obol Ricketts used the opportunity to intimate APC members and supporters that he is strongly in the race to make a difference, pointing out that the insinuations making the rounds that he was considering the thought of sitting down with any aspirant in a bid to decide who runs is only a state of delusion in the minds of infantile propagandists emphasizing that he is strongly in the race to win, and thereafter change the face of political representation in the Central Central Senatorial District.

The former Cross River State Commissioner for Information assured that the administraton of President Muhammadu Buhari is doggedly determined to change the face of political representation in the country,by returning the power to choose who represent them at any level to the people.

The Ugep high Chief charged APC members not to be decieved  by any political gimmick by any aspirant assuring them that it wouldn't take him years to show competence unlike some of our past representatives

2019: Ayade emerges PDP governorship flagbearer in Cross River

It was a walk over for Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State yesterday as he easily emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for next year's governorship election.

Ayade, who was the sole aspirant, garnered 1927 votes in the primary election that involved delegates from the 18 local government areas in the state at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar., venue of the primary.

2001 delegates where accredited for the exercise with 10 voided votes.

Speaking moments after the result was announced, the governor attributed the outcome to the will of God.

According to him, this "is purely the will of God. You can see the overwhelming acceptance from the people through my party and I'm happy that my people can appreciate my little effort so far in transforming the socio-economic landscape of the state. I came with the mission to restructure the economy of the state. The outcome of the execise is clearly an endorsement of what I had started. I want to assure Cross Riverians that I am poised to complete the economic restructuring of the state."

According to the governor, "everyone is so enthusiastic to participate in the primary to reelect me and I can only say that, it's God's will. One thing you must know is that, the people have only come here to vote according to their conscious in spite of the fact that I am the only aspirant for the election."

He described the primary as a family affair, stating that the massive turnout was an affirmation that Cross River PDP remains strong and united.

Speaking on the exercise, the chairman of the PDP Gubernatorial Electoral Committee to Cross River State, Hon. Olorogun Taleb Tebite described it as peaceful, transparent,  free and fair.

His words: "This is surprising, marvelous and very overwhelming to see massive turnout of delegates participate in this primary election which is more like an affirmation to return our digital Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade back to Government House."

Continuing, Tabite said: "Delegates have been so calm since they arrived this venue and have conducted themselves maturely to vote as their conscious will direct them. We must applaud Cross River delegates and the state Governor Ben Ayade for the public display of maturity and true Cross River spirit of peaceful and hospitablel people."

The State chairman of PDP, Ntufam Inok Edim Inok explained that  the massive turnout was a demonstration of love for the governor whom he noted has performed wonderfully well and deserved a second term to consolidate on the gains already recorded.

"Ayade has touched so many lives through his industrialization projects that have already yielded employment of over 10,000 persons in the state. That is why we are all here to affirm the reelection of this visionary."

BUHARI HAS NOT ANOINTED ANY CANDIDATE FOR CR CENTRAL – RICKETTS

BY TAKIM JOSEPH

Obol Akin Ricketts, Cross River Central Senatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vehemently rejected claims making the rounds that President Muhammadu Buhari has anointed a highly placed Chieftain of the party from the area as Central Senatorial Candidate to fly the APC flag in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections.

Obol Ricketts, who made the clarification while fielding questions from Journalists after a consultative meeting with APC members and his supporters in Obubra Local Government Area of the State said "the President Buhari that I know as a father or any leader of our great party cannot take such a blanket decision without considering the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Central Senatorial District" adding, "our party is committed to providing a level playing ground for all aspirants to test their acceptability by their people" he averred, adding that the claim that President Buhari took the decision because APC has zoned the position of Senate Presidency to Cross River Central Senatorial District is untrue and a cheap political propaganda.

Obol Ricketts, who is one of the front runners for the Cross River Central Senatorial ticket pointed out that his aspiration to represent the good people of the old Obubra Province is borne out of the desire and agitations for equitable representation by all segments of the Senatorial District, emphasizing that since the advent of democracy, Yakurr and Obubra are the two Local Government Areas that have not had a shot at the Senatorial seat while Abi, Ikom, Etung and Boki which are the other Local Government Areas that make up the Senatorial District have all had their turns in the past.

He reiterated his position on the fact that he is not leaning on any political bigwig in the APC or even in his Senatorial District, pointing out that he has high respect and a harmonious relationship with all the political leaders in the district in his quest to represent his dear people of Cross River Central.'This is why i  have as my campaign slogan"Cow wey no get tail" because i have a strong conviction that it is the entire members of my senatorial district that should determine who represents them and not any single individual',the Ugep High Chief declared.

The Senatorial hopeful, who is a former Commissioner for Information in the State, urged his supporters and party loyalists to remain calm, insisting that he is in the race for victory, noting that no amount of gimmicks can hoodwink him into believing such a cheap propaganda intended to deceive the good people of Cross River Central in favour of a particular Candidate.
