CONGRATULATIONS TO DR BETTA EDU, A COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE BRIDGE BUILDER!!!
AYADE'S DISCOVERED TALENT !!
By Prince Charles Ekanem.
No project or industrialization can compare to positively affecting the lives of people in the communities.... putting food on people's tables, providing for their health needs and general welfare is my priority! - GOVERNOR BEN AYADE.
It is no surprise that Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu is being honoured by the Catholic Church Calabar with Award of Excellence and talent recognition of her selfless service to humanity and the church.
Today, many Cross Riverians use Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) for much of their health care needs and PHCs are now fully accepted by both health care consumers and most other care providers as a critical component of a modern health care system revamped by His Excellency, Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade, Governor of Cross River State.
For more than 3 years, Dr Betta Edu have traversed the length and breadth of the state with almost every community feeling her impact. Her personal connection with those many will consider as very poor in society has made her stand out amongst her contemporaries.
Through the Cross River state primary health care development Agency under her leadership has provided a vast amount of services for both acute and chronic diseases in community settings, making her presence in the health care system essential. Furthermore, expectations are that PHCs will become even more crucial to health care delivery as more Cross Riverians gain access to broader services through her health care reform efforts.
This conform her concerted efforts of giving everyone in Cross River their greatest opportunity to live the healthiest lives as proclaimed by our Heavenly Father.
As Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu is being reminded of her leadership and executive roles in helping people live healthier lives and create healthier communities by majority of Cross Riverians, organizations and religious gathering as well as the international community.
Dr Edu in the past three and half years has prevented and drastically reduce child abuse; develop wellness programs for the uninsured and pioneer programs that are people oriented, too numerous to mention.
Her effort is double with her initiated school based awareness strides of preventing students from suicide and substance abuse among teenagers, improve care for older adults; and increase diversity in the primary healthcare workforce and the number of health workers, nurses and doctors serving on boards.
She also ensures that an unacceptable proportion of Nigerian children under-five who are acutely malnourished or stunted are revived to live a healthy nourish life.
Indeed, Dr Betta Edu deserves more than accolades for her community effort and selfless services to Cross River State and Nigeria as a whole.
