The Nigeria Immigration Service in Cross River State has express dissatisfaction over borders security and illegal migration of persons to Cross River State.
Comptroller of NIS in the state, Mr James Ezugwu, disclosed this today the 9th day of September 2020 during a courtesy visit to the Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams.
Ezugwu explained that he is not trying to implicate anyone but the clan Head, village head and politicians are admitting foreigners through the backdoor.
According to him, irregular migration and all forms of illegality along the Cross River State borders are managed by village head who are giving foreigners Nigeria documents free of charge.
"My visit here is to plead with The Speaker and house members that are grassroots people to talk to their village Head, politicians because the security of Cross River State which is surrounded by neighbouring country doesn't depends on uniform personal alone but all of us and we need to work together not to allow foreigners into our country illegally.
Responding, Speaker Eteng said he was pleased to welcome the team and assured them of Cross River State House of Assembly continued cooperation and assistance with a law to put an end to all issues raised.
" We cannot sit down as stakeholders and allow our country to go the wrong way. It takes less than 30 minutes to get to equotorial guinea and Cameron, anyone coming in should follow the right process".
Eteng also added that all house of assembly members will take this message home and promised the comptroller that they will see a new era of stability in the borders. We are here to support you, anytime, you need us, you can come to us.
