OBOL/CLAN HEAD LAMENTED DURING AN INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH AKPAMA EMMANUEL

Akpama Emmanuel Sampson is a realist and a son of Mkpani Community from Aduma Clan. On the 18th of November 2017, He met with Detailing Cross River to discuss the way forward on the up coming event that will bring around all sons and daughters of Mkpani community together to discuss the position of Mkpani community comes 2020. Our discussion triggers our meeting with Rt. Hon Eteng Jones Williams in His office at House of Assembly Complex and later Akpama proceeded to Mkpani to see the conflicting Monarchies.

AT THE PALACE OF OBOL ODEN, THE INTRO DURING HIS INTERACTION

 Good evening HRH

My major reason for visiting is to inform you about the upcoming youths programme which is aimed at helping the youth's of Yakurr L.G.A to develop themselves and emerge as leaders, change agent and role models in their various communities and Nation at large. And also to notify you about our plans, to organise a town hall meeting, which all our elites, leaders, political class and traditional rulers will gather and interact with the youth's of our noble community on the issues that had eaten deep into our system and is affecting the youths within and out side the country. The Monarch saw reasons in what i said and commended our effort so far, saying is a developmental calling event that will bring the needed change. The issues triggered him to discussed on the worrisome state of the community, Obol Oden said" as a monarch he has no grudges over anything. That, all he is saying is that tradition must be followed without aberrations and that attempt to reform tradition, is the issue Mkpani is facing but we are blinded by dishonesty.
 Interactions Now
.
Akpama -- OBOL, with all this traditional distractions, are we still sure of adequate development in Mkpani?

In response, Obol Oden said "even in a family, when there is no love, peace and unity amongst the households, it will be difficult for development to set in and that is why we need peace and the only thing that will bring about peace in Mkpani is when our tradition is allowed to be, just the way it was from origin."

Akpama --Obol, what really is the cause of the Mkpani problems.

Response by Obol Oden" one of it is trying to reform our traditions, secondly Personal and Political interest of some elites. And I don't know what they stand to gain and why they are busy fueling this issue".

Akpama -- Please Obol what do you mean? More clarification.

Response "what I meant is clearly written in the wall, the crowning of Obol Sunday didn't follow the traditional norms And politicians, due to hatred of some of their contemporaries from a section of the community had decided to create confusion in the traditional stool. The reasons is still best known to them. He lamented that the Aduma clan had paid their full dues in the development of Mkpani community and as such they should be regarded and given equal opportunities. Am not asking much, no traditional procedures should be deviated due to personal interest and let me draw your attentions to all written petitions on the Aduma clan and the recent one by Dr. Ekor Abam".

Akpama -- what do you think will solve this problem?

Obol replied " only love can solve this problem and truthfulness".

Going through all the responses, from the Obol and Clan Head of Aduma I wish to conclude by saying " let us be prepared to be in the town hall meeting. Truth shall prevail falsehood.

CSOs AND PEACE CORPS DARE IG OF POLICE AND UNSEAL PCN HQTS

The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations for Justice and Equity and Peace Corps of Nigeria on Thursday 16th November 2017 held a press conference at Abuja and after the briefing marched peacefully in a very huge numbers to take over their office.

It had been on record that Inspector General of Police (IG) Ibrahim Idris had refuse to unseal the headquarters of Peace Corps as directed by Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja. Following  the order, the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations for Justice and Equity Thursday forced open the headquarters of the corps. The headquarters of the corps had been illegally sealed off by the IG since February 28, 2017.

However, delivering judgment in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/ CS/176/2017 on November 9, 2017, Justice Kolawole had ruled that the headquarters be unsealed and also awarded a sum of N12.5 million for general damages in favour of the applicant and against IG Idris.

The coordinator of the group, Mr. Edward Omaga, said: “The judgment did not give Idris any seven days whatsoever within which to unseal the office. We are aggrieved that the judgment was served by the bailiffs of court on the Nigeria Police Force since November 10, 2017 and again served on all parties by the Chambers of Kanu Agabi and Co, SAN on November 13, 2017 for compliance, only for the CP Legal, Force Headquarters named Mr. David Igbodo to come up with a lame excuse the NPF cannot unseal the office now because their teams of lawyers are still studying the judgment.

“This again is highly contradictory, since the same police claimed they never sealed the Peace Corps headquarters.” Omaga stressed that it was obvious the IG and his allies are either confused about the interpretation of the plain wordings of the judgment or the IG lacks respect for the judiciary and the rule of law.

Vacat My Office Premises, A message to Police by Akor After Court Order

Despite court order that the headquarters of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, (PCN) office be vacated by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the premises is still being occupied by policemen.
The National Commandant of PCN, Dickson Akoh has however vowed to resume at the headquarters of PCN on Monday following the court judgment.
A Federal High Court in Abuja last Thursday awarded N12.5m as damages against the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Inspector General of Police over their violation of the rights of Akoh and some of its members. Justice Gabriel Kolawole gave the award in a judgment on a fundamental right suit filed by Akoh and others.
Men of the NPF had on February 28 this year invaded the Abuja headquarters of the PCN during its commissioning, and arrested Akoh and 49 other members of the group, who were later detained.
Akoh and others later challenged their detention and the continued sealing of the PCN’s headquarters building in Abuja by the police by filing the fundamental rights enforcement suit and claiming N2billion damages.
They listed the NPF, IGP, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS) and its Director-General as respondents.
In the judgment last Thursday, Justice Kolawole also ordered the police to immediately unseal the group’s headquarters at 57, Iya Abubakar Crescent, Off Alex Ekwueme Way, Opposite Jabi Lake, Jabi, Abuja.
Speaking to newsmen on Saturday on the judgment and recent development, Akoh said Corps headquarters has not been vacated. “This order was given last Thursday and it was supposed to take effect immediately. As far as law is concerned a court order is a public pronouncement and public document. As I am talking to you now police are still stealing the headquarters of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, (PCN). Their truck is still there. They should obey this court order to vacate the PCN headquarters.
“I think what the police is looking for is for us to revolt so that they can use it to justify their actions and look for another charges to hold us. In a country that practice ideal democracy, the Inspector General of Police is not following what the rule of law says. Our lawyers have told us to be patient. We have waited for this development since February 28, so waiting till Monday will not harm us.”
