By Kingsley Agim
Cross River Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. RoseMary Effiom Archibong has at the on-going 47th National Council On Information Meeting in Kaduna, highlighted the Ayade-led administration's effort towards Migration to Digital Television Broadcast Project (Digital Switch Over).
In a presentation, the Commissioner told delegates at the annual event that Cross River State Government under Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade, in demonstration of its commitment to the Migration to Digital Television Broadcast Project (Digital Switch Over) in Nigeria, has approved the purchase of 3,000 Units of Set Top Boxes and Satellite Dishes from GOSPEL DIGITAL, Manufacturers of Set Top Boxes, located at the Calabar Free Trade Zone.
Continuing, Mrs. Archibong informed that the transaction, which is just the 1st phase, is being implemented proactively to put Cross River in a state of readiness for the Digital Switch Over (DSO).
The Information and Orientation Boss also stated that the State Government has provided funding for the provision of Satellite Bandwidth Channel for the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC) to facilitate signals reception across the State due to the difficult topography of Cross River with footprints spreading even beyond.
She also said Digital Broadcast Equipment like Modulators, Encoders, Block Up Converter (BUC) have been purchased and installed at Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC) in enhancement of Digital Content.
The Commissioner used the event to invite NCI delegates to the 2nd largest Street Party globally - the Carnival Calabar, as well as the opportunity of seeing the humongous develpmental strides of the Governor Ayade led administration.
She amazed the participants with the concept of Intellectual Money adopted by Governor Ayade for development, emphasizing that despite the many social media and other media practitioners appointed by the Governor as well as others in the state, Cross River has insignificant record of fake news or hate speeches.
The state was chosen to represent the South South Zone on the Repertoiral and Communique Committee.
