5300 HEALTH JOBS EXAMINATION SLATED FOR 16TH MARCH,2019, GOV. AYADE KEEPS TO HIS PROMISE


5,300 applicants have been shortlisted for the 1,000 primary healthcare job vacancies advertised by the Cross River Primary Healthcare Development Agency in January 2019.

Speaking to pressmen in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital on Wednesday, the Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu thanked the State Governor, Senator Prof Ben Ayade for his timely approval and energetic drive towards increasing workforce in the state to employ 1000 health personnel for Primary Healthcare. Adding that, the screening examination will commence on the 16th of  March across three centres in the state namely, West African People's Institute (WAPI) for applicants from Southern Cross River State, Government Secondary School (GOVISCO),  Ikom for applicants from Central Senatorial district while applicants from Northern Cross River State will write the exams at Government Technical College, Ogoja.

According to Dr. Edu 7,500 applicants had applied for various cadres of jobs in the health sector, 5,300 were shortlisted after thorough screening. Adding that, successful candidates would be invited for interviews and their appointment letters issued within one month after the test.

She stated that, applicants from different professions like: architects, accountants and engineers also applied for the primary healthcare jobs.

Meanwhile, government has implemented incentives to health workers serving in the rural areas to encourage and appreciate their services in spite of the challenges adding that, hardworking health workers in the rural areas who are of good service to humanity would also be rewarded.

It could be recalled that, about 90 per cent of health centres in the state were renovated and upgraded to deliver efficient and effective healthcare services to the people at an affordable rate by the Governor Ben Ayade administration. She warned members of public not to fall in to any scam of paying money for any job placement as it will be strictly on merit!

She advice all applicants to take advantage of this opportunity by seating for the examination upon notification.
