JCA END OF YEAR THANKSGIVING: PARENTS CHARGED ON VIGILANCE, DEDICATION AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Parents have been enjoined to be always vigilant in regularly ascertaining what their children do, watch on television and the kinds of friends they associate with at all times.

The Director of Jesus Cares Academy – a Creche, Nursery/Primary School in Calabar, Cross River, Rev. Dr. Ann Uya, gave the admonition at a special get-together for pupils and parents of the school to mark the 2019 end of year thanksgiving held at the school premises located at 149 Parliamentary Road, opposite Women Development Centre, Calabar.

Rev. Uya said the society is growing dynamic and very sophisticated daily, and children are also growing with the trend which requires parents to be more devoted to the upbringing of their children and take full responsibility for their spiritual guidance, discipline, and moderation in order to provide for the total child, in line with the vision and mission of the school.

‘‘My parents, do not take anything for granted’’ monitor the videos your children watch while at home and the friends they keep. We are absolutely committed to building the total child spiritually, academic and emotionally balanced that would be God-fearing and responsible citizens of the world," the Director averred.

Rev. Uya lauded the exemplary conduct of the pupils, adding that they should necessarily obey their parents, teachers and elders in the society. She advised parents to teach their children/wards morals and the need to refrain from negative vices, while thanking them and the PTA leadership in particular for their support and prayers, urging them to celebrate the 2019 Christmas with pomp and pageantry and wished both parents and pupils a prosperous 2020.

Articulating her views, another Member of the Board of Directors, Prof. (Mrs.) Stella Effah Atoe, expressed delight in the pupils’ high level of excellence and rectitude, adding that such citadel is a necessity for the child’s foundation.

Prof. Atoe, who described the Academy as ‘deeply-rooted in Christ,’ said there are few of such cradles of child excellence around, enjoining parents and guardians to enrol their children and wards in the school.

She charged parents not to relegate the upbringing of their children/wards to only the hands of the school/teachers, while calling for strict censorship contents children consume at home on television and social media, especially during this holiday period and yuletide season in order not to debase the moral fabric in them.

The PTA Chairman, Mr. Frank Emmanuel Effiom, in his remarks, said Jesus Cares Academy is one unique family, where Christ is the head; and everything that is done in the school is directed by the Holy Spirit.

Mr. Effiom pointed out that the school, though young, is fully equipped to produce quality children that would compete favourably with their peers both at home and other climes in all levels of leadership.

The event featured recitation of poems, drama, dance and Miss/Master Culture in Diversity Competition by the pupils.
