The State House of Assembly has granted approval for the acquisition of 4,000 units Motorcycles for Staff of the unified Local Government Service in the State.
In a correspondance forwarded to Speaker and Honourable members, dated 10th March,2020 and signed by the Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Hon. Stella Odey, seeking approval, as requested by the union, from the House.
The Lawmakers in a resolution for approval, urged the heads of the 18 Local Government Administrations (HOLGAs), to ensure that the the scheme is only for interested staff and should not be compulsory.
The correspondence also states that the request is in accordance with the decision reached at the meeting of the State Executives of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE,, agreeing to commence the second phase of the motorcycle scheme for Staff of the Unified Local Government Service in the State.
Accordingly, a unit price of each motorcycle, put at 277,080 two hundred and Seventy Seven thousand Eighty Naira only, on a monthly payment of 9,236 Nine thousand two hundred and Six Naira only for a period of 30 months.
However, the date for the commencement of the second phase of the scheme was not stated, as individuals staff are espected to pay on installment bases.
