In the face of high insecurity in Nigeria, Africa Union has significantly seen reasons to Partner with Nigerian Peace Corps to curb the menace of insecurity in Nigeria and Africa at large.
The Nigerian Peace Corps boss, Ambassador, (Dr) Dickson Akoh made the assertion while receiving the apex delegation of the Coalition Of Nigerian Youth On Security Affairs (CONYSA), at his office in Abuja, pointing out that the body would be coming to his office on Thursday, 6 August, 2020 for official documentations and due process.
The National Coordinator of the Coalition, Amb. Ade Mario Emmanuel took out time and superficially introduced the body to His Excellency, Amb. Dickson, stating that the Coalition Of Nigerian Youth On Security Affairs’ (CONYSA) vision is to build a complementary and effective youths Structure to collaborate and cooperate with the Security agencies of Nigeria, to combat the rising Security Challenges across the country, resulting in improved security of lives and properties in all Communities of the Nation.
Speaking further, he said the mission statement is to sensitize the Nigerian Youth to own Security as Constituency responsibility, while bridging the relationship gap between the Youth and Security Agencies in the Country. developing a viable Feedback Mechanism, fostering enhanced flow of information with mutual trust, guaranteeing safety of both Informants and Security Personnel.
Talking on the goals, he disclosed, to set up proactive Independent Youth Security Situation Rooms (IYSSR) or Cells in the 774 Local Government Areas and security Red-spot Communities in Nigeria. with a Central Coordinating Unit, to promptly report crimes and all activities capable of leading to breakdown of Law and Order in Society. thus reducing the level of Insecurity in the Federation to the barest minimum within the current decade.
Other activities that cropped up of the visit was the presentation of the letter of appointment as Chairman Advisory Board of the Coalition and Presentation of a customised T-shirt to His Excellency Amb. Dickson.
Response, Amb. Dickson expressed delight for finding him worthy to pilot the advisory board of such a notable platform and affirmed his unalloyed commitment to ensuring that the body gets to it’s desired heights.
He advised the leaders to be prepared for challenges and remain resolute in combating them to a finish point.
