For quality and effective healthcare delivery, individuals, groups, opinion leaders including the traditional institution and Government at all levels must collaborate and work together for the benefits of their subjects.
It was on this note that the traditional ruler of Yakurr nation and Custodian of the traditional right of Yakurr people, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng is assuring his people and the Government of his continuous support for quality and effective healthcare delivery.
The Obol made the assurance when the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong who paid him a courtesy visit in his palace and to celebrate the yearly "Leboku New year festival" .
Obol Ofem said, the task of providing quality, accessible and all round available healthcare especially for those in the grassroot should not be limited to the Government or it's Agencies, but with worthy and effective collaboration with everyone.
Speaking earlier, the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong felicitated with the Ruler and his kingdom for upholding such important tradition over the years, urged him to continually show support in the promotion of healthcare for his subjects especially for the vulnerable.
Dr Ekpenyong said, with Yakurr having the highest incidences of leprosy and other neglected tropical diseases in the state, more delibrate measures should be taken to enhance the health and well-being of the people.
She however thanked the Obol and his people for supporting Health programmes like immunization services, patronage of health Facilities by pregnant women and children,
Which has contributed to the eradication of polio in Nigeria.
"I must congratulate you and your people for upholding this great and unique culture for this long, the new yam festival in Yakurr brings a lot of people back home to celebrate and this is the best time to kick up our campaign to enlighten people about some of our services in the primary health agency like nutrition, family planning, immunization, tuberculosis, antenatal services ,child health care and many others.
We must commend our Governor, Senator professor Ben Ayade for all his supports in ensuring that every child and mothers receive the best of cares in our Facilities .
You (Obol) have been a great promoter and supporter of our services and I must commend you for that sir, I want to encourage you to continue to show supports so that we can have a Healthier society to live in".
The Director General and her team were later treated to the display of the people's rich cultural heritage in dances, traditional rite performance and other activities to mark the 2020 Leboku New year festival.
