In ensuring quality service delivery and a guaranteed optimal productivity by health workers across the state, the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the State Local Government Service Commission have agreed to work in synergy in actualizing these goals for the interest of Cross Riverians.
The resolve was met when the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpenyong paid a working visit to the office of the Chairman, Cross River State Local Government Service Commission along with some of her Directors to seek ways of collaborating to achieve optimal service delivery.
While briefing the team, the DG said the essence of the visit was to dialogue with the commission and to seek ways of optimally collaborating with the Commission in areas of staff welfare in order to actualize greater productivity and efficiency in their work.
Dr Ekpenyong said, as an Agency saddled with the responsibility of meeting the health needs of those in the rural communities especially, there is need to interface with all stakeholders in the health sector especially as the state is aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage in the nearest future.
She therefore called for an opened door policy between both bodies so as to continually build and strengthen the inter-agency's relationship.
"We have come to rob minds together to see how we can ensure optimal service delivery from our health workers, as you know the Primary Healthcare Agency is saddled with the responsibility of catering for the health needs of those in the rural areas, and as a stakeholder,we feel we must work amicably with you to put an end to any doubt in the minds of our staff that there is any friction between our agency and yours, rather we are working together
to put an end to the issues of absenteeism from work and enforce discipline when health workers commit an offense especially as it concerns service matters. I believe if we work together, it will help us check these excesses.
Receiving the DG and her team, the Chairman of the Cross River State Local Government Service Commission, Dr Peter Adigeb thanked the DG and her team for the honour bestowed on the commission as he praised the giant strides taken within this short period of her appointment to bridge the gap between both Agencies of Government.
Dr Adigeb said, with both parastatals of government working to actualize a set goal, the need to create a harmonious working relationship cannot be over emphasized and hence the need to close ranks and improve services which will translate the vision of His Excellency, Senator Prof Ben Ayade into reality.
The Chairman and the Commissioners pledged to work amicably with the Agency.
The meeting had all Commissioners in the Local Government Service Commission in attendance as well as the permanent secretary and ,Directors from both establishments.
