CONTRACT STAFF OF CROSS RIVER WATER BOARD CRIED OUT TO CROSS RIVER HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY
Fifty contract staff of Cross River State Water Board Agency on Monday 22 January, 2018 abandoned their area of work to embark on a protest.
The protestants said that some of them were owed 14months, 12months and the lowest is 10months and the agency had denied that they are owing them.
From the early hours on monday, the contract staff converged at the entrance of House of Assembly chanting solidarity songs calling on the Speaker of the House and
Legislatures to intercede.
Speaking on behalf of the contract staff who pleaded anonymous said non payment of salaries had brought untold hardship to the contract staff.
Addressing them Member representing Yakurr1 Constituency said that they should put it into writing to the House of Assembly and copy House Committee Chairman on finance and appropration.
It is also on record that last week during budget defence of Water Board Department the MD claims that he had paid all the staff of the agency.
Also speaking Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams to the protesters, assured them that the Assembly would look into their complaints. he advised them to remain calm, law abiding and put it into writing.
