Obeten Emmanuel Enang has emerged President of the CRS Central Senatorial Students Assembly Worldwide (CENSSA-WW), in an election in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Obeten who is a four hundred Level (400L) student of the Department of Radiography and Radiological Science, Faculty of Allied Medical Science, College of Medical Sciences, University of Calabar hails from Assiga New town in Yakurr Local Government Area of CRS. Polled 49 votes to defeat his opponent; Enya Peter from Abi Local Government Area who polled 32 votes.
Expressing his feelings to detailingcrossriver.blogspot.com, Obeten thanked God for seeing him through the elections and making him to emerge victorious. He also thanked all those who trust and believes in him for their unreserved mandate.
“My sincere appreciation goes to God Almighty who has seen me through the elections. It wasn’t easy at all, but the most important of all these is that I won the election with your votes and I won’t let you down.” He said.
Adding that, “The task ahead of us is a daunting one. I cannot pilot the affairs of this great Union alone, all hands must be on deck to ensure that CENSSA is rebranded and taken to an enviable height.” Obeten maintained.
In other offices; Edor Francisca Bukie from Ikom Local Government emerged un-opposed as Vice President as well as the office of the Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and Director of Information.
The election had ten delegates representing each Local Government; and is comprised of five chapters of which are the University of Calabar, FCE Obudu, College of Education Akamkpa, CRUTECH Calabar and College of Health Technology Calabar; with three delegates representing each chapter, taking the number of delegates to 81.
The Central Senatorial Students Assembly worldwide (CENSSA-WW) is the apex student Union that comprises of six out of the eighteen Local Government Areas of Cross River State.
The executives all hail from old Obubra and Old Ikom; which comprise of Abi, Boki, Etung, Ikom, Obubra and Yakurr LGA’s in line with the Union’s zoning policy.
They will pilot the affairs of the Union for the next twelve months.
