Eta Mbora coming back is Pre-eminent for effective legislation.

By Prince Charles Ekanem

In politics, you are bound to have disagreements. You cannot have everything moving perfectly well all the time. But it is always possible to sit back and look at how things are going and correct what needs to be corrected.

I have known Eta Mbora for a very long time and I can assure that if there was any lapses between him and and his constituents, such lapses will be forclose in 2019 new legislative year.

Let me remind all that the National Assembly is a pre-eminent democratic institution that is, amongst other responsibilities, charged with legislation making and acting as checks and balances vis-à-vis the executive arm of the federal government.

Hon Eta Mbora in the past three and the half years in its oversight roles and functions, has help set benchmarks for the nation's development through his giant stride in healthcare, social welfare and effective representation amongt others.

His recent records has amply shown that the people of Calabar Municipality and Odukpani Federal Constituency have been duly represented even though in politics not all are politically satisfy with performance of their public servant. Our putative democracy is imperilled or enhanced by these set of people depending on whether or not we have a truly functioning legislature that is prepared to assert its legitimacy by standing up to the kind of executive rascality and truancy that have been the stock in trade of achievements since 2015.

You have the chance to Support Hon Eta Mbora for second term for I know and I know that he will not disappoint comes 2019-2023.

GOV AYADE HAS LAID SOLID ECONOMIC FOUNDATION FOR CRS – MONARCH

By Kingsley Agim

The Paramount Ruler of Ogoja, His Royal Majesty, Butru Godwin Odu has stated that Governor Ben Ayade has laid, very sufficiently, the economic foundation for Cross River to become a beacon of industrialization in the comity of Nigerian States.

The Royal Father made this statement when he recently received the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. RoseMary Archibong and her team on a courtesy visit to his office at the Chamber of the Traditional Rulers Council, Ogoja Local Government Council, Ogoja.

Butru Odu, who maintained that the basic law of development economics is the foundation for proper take-off, commended the intellectual capacity of the governor and his ability to achieve laudable projects and pay salaries promptly and consistently in spite of the State's lean allocation.
The Traditional Ruler also pledged support for Governor Ayade's second bid, adding that attempts to deny him another stint at the Peregrino House would be a travesty of justice and a dangerous precedent for the political future of the Cross River State.

"At various fora, we have met and resolved that Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade be returned to the Government House in 2019 in order to consolidate on the giant strides of his first tenure," the Royal Father concluded.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. RoseMary Archibong thanked the Monarch for the warm reception in spite of his hectic royal engagements, adding that: "I come here with the goodwill of His Excellency, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade, your son who has done us proud in governance in the past three and half years."

"We are here to tell the people of Ogoja and indeed the Northern Senatorial District that the Ayade-led administration is one that cares for and relates with its people and is interested in letting them know what it is doing," Mrs. Archibong added.

The Commissioner used the opportunity to invite the royal father to 'The Conversation' her Ministry's orientation programme aimed at educating the citizens, getting their views and creating a mix between the government and the governed, as well as presented a copy of 'Giant Strides,' a Ministry of Information and Orientation publication of the deliverables of the Ayade-led government.

The Chairman of the PDP Speaker's Forum, Rt. Hon John Gaul Lebo says that the ongoing seizure of the Akwa-Ibom State House of Assembly by the security agents is slap on constitutional democracy in the country.

He maintains that the Legislature has never been persecuted or  desecrated the way and manner being experienced in last three years and warns that Nigeria is slowly sliding into dictatorship if the desperation  of the ruling party is not checked.

" The Legislature in the past three years has been repeatedly attacked by accomplices and agents of APC with reckless disregard. It's appalling that the most critical arm of government is the target of this callous and shameless attacks".

The Chairman of PDP Speakers' Forum who describes the occupation and blockade of the Akwa-Ibom State House of Assembly by the police as unwarranted and totally disrespectful to the constituted authority of the people,  therefore demands that such should be dismantled forthwith.

Rt. Hon Lebo, also the Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly chides the All Progressives Congress and collaborators against acts capable of fuelling anarchy in the country.

" I wish to emphatically state that    the PDP Speakers' Forum is totally opposed to the charade in Akwa-Ibom and we will take every necessary measure to defend the Legislature from further ill-conceived attacks.

OPEN LETTER TO ABI STATE CONSTITUENCY CITIZENS BY John Gaul Lebo

Dear constituents, let's have an end to communal hostilities among the communities of The Bahumuno Nation in Abi local government.

The Bahumuno Nation in Abi local government are a peculiar and unique hospitable and hugely industrious people around the world.

Their contribution to state and national development cannot be under estimated.
Over a decade ago, the Ebom and Ebijakara extraction of the Bahumuno Nation fought among themselves consequent upon which Ebijakara community does no longer exist. Every effort, legal and statutory to restore Ebijakara community back to their ancestral home has proved abortive. Since then, Ebijakara has sought refuge in Usumutong community.

The current communal crisis between Ediba and Usumutong, Usumutong and Ebom apart been unnecessary and avoidable cannot be resolved with Ebijakara out of the context.

Tension, threats, fear, and cases of fighting and deaths on the 3 communities of Ediba-Usumutong, Usumutong-Ebom and the insinuations of the connivance of Ebijakara is an issue that calls for urgent foundational peace process.

The leaders of Bahumuno Nation must first of all embrace peace and desist from the state of denial and blame staking.
Government is limited where indigenous communities with same ethnic and homogenous root go to war with brothers and spill innocent blood with reckless abandon.

There must be an end to hostilities between all parties concerned and government must be allowed to continue its intervention and peace process.

The House of Assembly facilitated an inter-communal dispute parlay headed by the Obol Lopon of Ugep and the paramount ruler of Biase earlier in the year to intervene to no avail despite the effort of the Obol. The last meeting 24hours to the conflict was indefinite.

A joint peace committee of all Bahumuno notable elders and leaders who set up a standing committee tried to no avail.
The lone effort of the current commissioner for international development, Hon Francis Etta also tried to no avail.

On Tuesday this week acting on security tip off, government drafted a joint team of police/soldiers to Ebom and Usumutong communities, had a meeting with the paramount ruler of Abi in Usumutong.

Despite assurance from both sides, the communities still went to war with heavy casualties resulting therefrom including lose of life's and properties including the palace of the paramount ruler of Abi, elder statesman Avm Eko Osim house alongside 9 other houses in Usumutong.

The House of Assembly has therefore fixed an emergency seating on Monday  to resolve and mandate the executive to set up a commission of inquiry to bring the perpetrators to justice, while protecting the life's and properties of citizen's

In the interim more security team has been drafted to the area, the state emergency management agency has been deployed in the area to intervene immediately.

The commissioner for health has been mandated to dispatch a team of doctors and other medical personnel to the area. I am doing everything within my powers to send as much relief to those affected, you are my people and you are my first priority. Your pain is my pain, your sufferings are my sufferings. Please let us live in peace.
We call on all parties to ceasefire and allow peace to reign .
