The Corps in her usual patriotic and progressive international relations, recently gained recognition through the Government of India (GOI). According to the Government, through the High Commission in Nigeria, 'this recognition is as a result of the Corps’ National Creativity, Peace and Youth Development programmes.' It would be recalled that the Government of India had organized a programme tagged India Technical Economic Cooperation (ITEC)/Special Commonwealth Assistance for Africa Programme (SCAAP) Scholarship through the Ministry of External Affairs of which the PCN Oyo State Commandant, Dr Oludare Adesina, was a beneficiary of the Indian Government’s Scholarship, the only participant from Nigeria. The event, which held between February 26th to March 9th, 2018, had the theme, 'Leadership Development Programme for Enhancing Public Service Delivery'. The scheme attracted 33 participants from 22 countries nay; Nigeria, Argentina, Tanzania, Russia, Georgia, Kenya, Indonesia, Ukraine, Vietnam and several others. Reacting to this development, the National Commandant of the Corps, Amb. (Dr) Dickson A.O. Akoh FCITr FCPA, FNSIS, commended the High Commission and Government of India for finding PCN worthy of recognition. He further stressed that such recognition will boost the morale of the organization in order to execute its mandate effectively. While celebrating the achievement, Amb. Akoh yet noted that with this kind of recognition, the Management and indeed Nigerian youths will find more strength to continue praying in earnest for President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to reconsider his stand on the Nigerian Peace Corps (Establishment) Bill with a view to signing it into law.
