For competency, I present to you Engr. Matthew Fidelis Bassey as Chairmanship aspirant in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.
He is a seasoned leader on economic development, and human resource development who had held the following offices:

Matthew holds a Post graduate Diploma of the Regional Maritime University Accra Ghana, where he studied and became a Merchant Navy Captain and also studied Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious university of Port - Harcourt.
He has working experience as field superintendent in Saipem MMO and also was head of Marian operations as a Captain onboard installation badge Boss 400.
Engr. Matthew has attended Seminars/conferences in Nigeria and abroad. He is a member of Nigeria institute of Safety Professionals, West African College of Maritime Captains, Member, Nigerian Council of Seafarers.
He has been a member of the People Democratic Party for so long. He is a grassroots mobilizer, team player, a party Man who has served the party faithfully.
He is married to Mrs Precious Matthew Bassey and the marriage is blessed with four beautiful children.
He had done the following contribution in his community he had supported 12 students with scholarships to enable them write WAEC, in 2012 and he gave out 8 motor bikes to some youths in his community in 2009 and he had influenced UNICEF to put one motorized borehole in his community functioning till date.
As a result of his immersed contributions towards the development and growth of his
immediate Community 'Akugom' he was honoured with the Noble title of 'Obol Mgbongha 1' (meaning the chief of
enlightenment) of Akugom in the year 2017.
Without any doubt Engr. Matthew Fidelis Bassey will take Yakurr Nation to a greater heights.
