GIRD YOUR LOINS FOR ACTION - CRGIA DG

The newly appointed Director-General of Cross River Geographic Information Agency (CRGIA), Sir John Odo, has admonished staff of the Agency to brace up for the task of repositioning the parastatal for effective service delivery.

Sir Odo gave the charge during his inaugural meeting with Management and staff of CRGIA, held, yesterday in the Conference Room of Agency in Calabar.

The Director General assured staff of Governor Ben Ayade's  commitment to revamping CRGIA, adding that in the shortest possible time, the offices and all other paraphernalia that make for productiveness and efficiency will be put in place.

He also told the workers that he is on course to settle issues bothering on welfare, especially in the area of outstanding payments, pointing out that the Governor  in his magnanimity, will clear all arrears owed them and ensure that modalities to  keep the Agency up and running at all times are put in place.

The Director General further hinted that salaries of CRGIA staff will henceforth be paid regularly as at when due, as the Ayade-led administration is in a hurry to get result from the Agency.

The youthful DG reminded staff of his zero tolerance for lateness to work, improper dressing, lack of commitment to duty and other untoward attitude in the service, averring that now that the Agency is back on track, Management and staff must be on their toes to produce results.

In a bid to getting first-hand knowledge  on issues concerning the Agency, the DG lent audience to each staff who laid bare their minds and brainstormed on the way forward for the establishment, as one of the highpoints of the meeting.

Speaking on behalf of Management, the Director of Operations of the Agency,Mr. Philip Ogitigbo, described staff of CRGIA as “survivors” for going through 20 months of inactivity and difficulty, but thanked God for bringing the fold back in one piece.

Mr. Ogitigbo maintained that in terms of personnel, equipment and environment, CRGIA is replete with the quality to perform maximally, while urging staff to accord the ‘proactive DG’ total support, exert unity of purpose and  commitment to duty.

“Geographic Information System (GIS) is a very robust technology that is not limited to land administration alone. It can do much more. I stand by the DG to see how we can increase the scope and spectrum of our operations. We should be able to move into many other value-added services such as property tax (a goldmine and area waiting to be explored) and utility mapping, which would rake revenue for the State,” Mr Ogitigbo stated.

The meeting, which featured an outpour of goodwill messages and encomiums on  the DG by staff, also saw individual pledge of allegiance towards the new result-oriented CRGIA. Exhortation and prayers .
