We should give Ayade the support he needs
Goddie Akpama
It was with great bemusement that I read a statement by the Acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, John Ochala, titled “Unveiling the Hidden Agenda Behind the Construction and Fabrication Academy Nigeria Limited.”
In essence the statement goes to make wild allegations about the supposed nefarious purpose of the Academy, a brainchild of Governor Ben Ayade. Ochalla goes on to allege how the governor is seizing CROSPIL land meant to serve the purpose of the new academy. He goes off also about how the the academy is a private concern of the governor and all that....
Today, it is actually funny that Ochala has started writing. It is funny that he has woken up and gotten his speech writer to work, as we have not known him to be one that artiulates or puts thoughts together.
We have failed as a party and I speak as a member of the APC. Criticism should not serve to destroy but to build and I am telling the acting chairman that if he has things that are against Cross River because today his eyes are opened, he should make his findings correctly so that he would not be embarrassed by the fact that his speech writer base his argument on fiction.
If CROSPIL is a government owned facility and there is better purpose for said land to be used, why should the government not take advantage of it?
That place was given to CROSPIL by Chief Clement Ebri, former Governor and so can be relocated to any other place. Donald Duke relocated the NUJ Press Centre for his personal purpose. Ayade is not using the place for any personal use but for the good of the state, so why the outcry?
Why not as a person wait to see how this would materialize rather than crying more than the bereaved and mentioning names of people as they come to your head.
In the first four years of Donald Duke, he had difficulties. Ideas were running his head without conclusion, but at the end of his second tenure he did well. All Donald achieved was in his last four years. Let us give Governor Ayade a chance to see what he will achieve for the future of Cross River. Delay is not refusal. It is a matter of planning. The governor has shown his own way of doing things and I know it may not be the style everyone is used to, gradually, he is meeting up his targets.
Donald, remember brought things like castor seed, pineapple and so on. They all failed in his first term. But in his second term , Ayade has done well in his first term. Details for another day.
So why do people think Ayade cannot do more and achieve his goals this second term? All the governor needs is support. He needs time and prayers and we should give it to him so our state can grow.
Thank you.
