The Cross River State maiden edition of soccer clinic organised by the State Sport Commission ends today in Calabar, the state capital.
According to Ekanem Ekpanyong the brain behind the initiative said the clinic is aimed at making kids of age 6-12 years interested in football and also discovered new football talents and exposing them to the world.
"This Clinic is going to be every Summer and it will help to regain lost glory in local and international football community" He added.
Ekanem called on every well meaning Crossriverians to partner with the commission in discovering more talents.
Mr. Eric Akpo one of the sponsors of the soccer clinic said it is a very very wonderful event, kids came out in great numbers to participate in an event that aimed at bringing out the best in kids for the future.
" I actually think every local government area should have a summer camp for kids to enable them catch future stars", catch and grow them. It disheartening that a country of over hundred and eight million people, will always have poor performance outside the country but with the zeal in this children, we will always have a wonderful performance if we can catch them young."
Mrs. Oluchi Chibuike, one of the parents in the clinic said she came to watch her kids and know their talents. Stating that one of the sons had always told her that he will be a footballer and here is the preparation ground for the future. That by God grace the son will be send to Chelsea Academy to study to enable him fulfilled his dreams.
Finally, Mr. Ekanem presented gifts items to participating kids and parents and used the opportunity to thank the State Government, Sponsors and parents for making the 14days clinic a reality at U.J Esuene Stadium.
