Covid-19: Cross River State Government seeks Intervention Fund from Federal Government --Dr. Betta Edu
Cross River State Government has called on the Federal Government to assist the state in the fight against Corona virus.
The state Commissioner for Health who also double as the Chairman of Covid-19 taskforce response team, Dr. Betta Edu made the call during Press briefing in the Ministry of Health today at about 2:45pm in Calabar.
The commissioner, stated that the Federal Government should see it as a necessity to set up a Covid-19 testing centre in the state and provide ventilators across the 36 States including the FCT.
According to Betta Edu out of all the test so far conducted, all returned positive and Cross River State remain Covid-19 Free.
Meanwhile, Betta opined that Cross River State is threatened with the recorded cases in the nearby States which shared same boundaries with the state and Cameron with over 800 recorded cases.
"Apart from palliative measures to provide food to Cross Riverivian, the state is to recruit 400 doctors, 600 nurses and 100 disease surveillance officers across every village in the state.
In conclusion Betta added that Federal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has not supported the State in the fight against Covid-19 and therefore appeal for urgent support.
The slogan still remains " No mask, No movement.
