Covid-19: Flour Mills goodwill delights C'River Gov't, as Company donates tons of noodles

The Government of Cross River State has expressed delight over the show of goodwill by Flour Mills Nigeria PLC, which yet again, donated 4000 cartons of Golden Penny Instant Noodles to the fight against Covid-19 in the State.

Receiving the items on behalf of the State Government, at the State Food Bank Warehouse Premises in Calabar, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation and Chairman, State Covid-19 Publicity and Advertisement Sub-committee, Comrade Asu Okang, thanked the Company, which less than a week ago, donated 6000 packs of Golden Penny Semovita, for its magnanimity during this period of global health emergency.

"We are elated and feel highly honoured that our own Flour Mills Nigeria PLC is here, yet again, in demonstration of their sensitivity to the plight, yearnings and aspirations of every average Cross Riverian, who, like every other Nigerian, has felt the biting effect of the corona virus in our State, the country and the world at large," Comrade Okang remarked.

The Publicity and Advertisement Sub-committee Chairman said Flour Mills Nigeria PLC's 4000 cartons of noodles, in addition to the 6000 packs of Semovita and other similar donations from individual and corporate organizations, will, in no small measure, cushion the hunger aspect has characterised lockdown in the State, with Governor Ben Ayade flagging off distribution today at 12 noon.

Comrade Okang also informed Flour Mills Nigeria PLC that in reciprocation to the Company's goodwill, the State Governor has directed that on commencement of production in the State Noodles Manufacturing Factory in no distant future, Flour Mills Nigeria PLC shall supply all the raw materials for production.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources Ntufam Okon Owuna, said the gesture will aid food availability for the vulnerable in the State.

Ntufam Owuna called on investors and business owners, as well as well meaning Nigerians to take a cue from Flour Mills Nigeria PLC, and contribute a quota to the State Government in the fight against Covid-19 in Cross River State.

The Company's Human Resource Business Partner, Mr. Matthew Anuga, noted that the 4000 cartons of Golden Penny noodles, in addition to the earlier 6000 packs of Semovita, was in furtherance of the State Government's proactive fight against Covid-19 in Cross River State.
