AYADE HAS WON OUR HEARTS - Clan Head Efut Ekondo

In a bid to scale up quality and standard healthcare delivery to Cross Riverians across board, His Excellency, Sen Prof. Ben Ayade embarked on a PHC Revitalization drive in the state, ably represented by the Acting Governor, Prof Ivara Ejemot Esu on Thursday at Mayne Avenue, opened a new Ultra morden Primary Healthcare  Centre to serve the people  of Ekpo Abasi Community of Efut Ekondo and ward 12, which by all standards had the highest voting strenght in last elections.

Speaking during the commissioning of the facility located at Government Technical Science School in Calabar South, Prof Ivara Ejemot Esu  said the construction of the facility became necessary to reduce the rate of maternal death occasioned by poor healthcare facility and lack of adequate medical equipment while appealing to women and everyone in the community  and beyond to take advantage of the facility.

Esu added that the will be a policy for all HOLGA across the State to ensure that primary healthcare is their priority . He decries the fact that out of 29 PHC in Calabar South only 8 are situated in government property while the rest is private property. He lauded Calabar South for their consistency in revitalising healthcare in the State and praised the health team.

Also Speaking, Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong  said she's fulfilled that the project has come to an end and today there is a new built and furnish PHC in Calabar South which will go along way to improve accessibility to quality healthcare delivery while tasking every women in the community to make use of the facility. She thanked, the State Governor, Senator (Prof)  Ben Ayade for his support to the health sector.

Earlier Speaking,  DG CRSPHCDA,  Dr Betta Edu eulogise the State Governor, Senator (Prof)  Ben Ayade and the Deputy Governor who is now acting for their effort in ensuring the project was actualise within a short interval.

According to her, when she assume office as Special Adviser and DG,  PHC Ekpo  Abasi rent issue was the first mail she treated as a lot of backlog debt was owed and Government was take to court. She praised the visionary HOLGA Pastor Elemi for keying into her vision and supporting the agency to build an Ultra modern PHC for Ekpo Abasi community.

"For everyone in this community let's stop patronising traditional birth attendants and make use of the new digital facility says the DG.

According to her HOLGA of Calabar South, Mrs Christiana Elemi, the setting of the centre here at Mayne Avenue is to ensure sustainability and give our women the opportunity to have regularly routine check and treatment. She pleaded for assistance to Fence the clinic off the school.

Member Representing Calabar South 1, Hon Joseph Bassey added that health anywhere in the world is very essential and for that, the newly built PHC will go along way to boost healthcare in the vicinity where he lives. He said the house have been battling with laws to promote and make healthcare stronger in the State.

Highlight of the event was the cutting of the tape by the Acting Governor, Prof Ivara Ejemot Esu alongside Commissioner Oliver Orok, Bar. Rosemary Archibong, Hon EKPO Bassey, former Chairman of Calabar South,  Hon Aye Henshaw,  Hon Marjorie Asuquo, Mr Peter Adigep, Special Adviser Event Management, Aklah Kenn, Special Adviser Insurance and Head of Ayadecare, Chief Godwin Iyala, Representatives of HFG USAID,  Azu Ibiam, Head of UNICEF Ibrahim Conteh  amongt others.
