CRS CHIEF JUDGE SEEKS OMPAN COLLABORATION ON DEEPENING DEMOCRATIC VALUES
The Chief Judge of Cross River state, His Lordship, Honourable Justice Michael Edem has said that online media practitioners and the Information Communication Technology world has come to stay and they are honourable as such the State Judiciary is very much ready to work with online media practitioners as she takes steps to achieve her objectives.
The Chief Judge who made these statements during a courtesy visit to his office by the leadership and members of the Cross River State chapter of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria, OMPAN, said when there's a synergy between the media and the judiciary there will be no breakdown in communication which usually gives rise to speculations and unfathomable associated evils.
His words, 'In a world where Online Journalism has taken the centre stage and have changed the old way of doing things, as such we see you as partners in progress, together we stand, together we move the state forward, together we shall promote our democracy', He said.
'Talking about reportage, I will urge you to do correct reportage as we are ready to supply with the needed information. If you have any problems I will welcome you with open hands and if we have any need of you we shall call on you as we believe you will also welcome us with open hands. He concluded.
Earlier on, the State Acting Chairman of OMPAN, Mr Efio-Ita Nyok had intimated the Chief Judge why they decided to pay His Lordship the visit, stating that the visit was aimed at familiarizing and partnering with his office and by extension the judiciary as well as acquaint him with the activities of the Association.
The Acting Chairman went ahead to state that this partnership with the judiciary will help journalists get detailed and correct information and as such reportage will not be based on assumptions and our sources will be authentic.
