CRS SOML PforR To Engage Health Volunteers
Saving One Million Lives PforR has disclosed her readiness to engage the services of health volunteers and TBAs in healthcare service delivery in the state.
This was disclosed during the 2nd quarter general meeting at the conference room of the General Hospital, Calabar.
Speaking, DG CRSPHCDA, Dr Betta Edu said Health volunteers that would be engaged and trained by the Government will have a monthly stipend of 5000 with increment of 200 per how many women they are able to track per a day. She said that, the volunteers would formed what is known as CHIPS, Community Health Influencers and Promoters in the state in accordance with national policy.
Similarly, TBAs would be paid a token of 2000 for any referral of pregnant woman to health facility for antenatal and delivery. This would further strengthen the state partnership with TBAs to emphasis their new role which is strictly REFERAL, while boosting healthcare accessibility.
She said, the health sector under the administration of Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade would continue to find innovative ways to meet the health needs of Cross Riverians and therefore, tasked volunteers and TBAs that would be selected to key into the vision of His Excellency and help revitalize the health sector in the state.
Earlier Speaking, Permanent Secretary Cross River State Ministry of Health, Dr Joseph Bassey who is the Chairman of the technical committee said besides, the CHIPS and TBAs, other people to enjoy motivational incentives put in place by SOML TCG are pregnant women who attends two times of ANC and delivers at health facility to receive conditional cash transfer of 2000 and 1000 to be given to any baby via their mothers who completes their routine immunization.
He noted that TB has been included as the seventh pillar of SOML PforR and that, henceforth, the program manager of TB in the state will be invited in subsequent review meetings to brief the TCG of activities of TB.
Dr Bassey went further to state that Cross River State have performed extremely well in SOML rating and has added the 7 pillar of the project.
The meeting had in attendance members of the Technical Consultative Group of Saving One Million Lives PforR and the Desk Officer, Mrs Lucy Enakhire. Amongst other directors from both SMOH & CRSPHCDA
