It is no longer news that the Wanikande and Wanihem Primary Healthcare Centres was brought down last year as a result of communal conflict between Wanihem and Wanikande. The said centres has been successfully rebuilt by the Cross River State Primary Health Development Agency with support from International Red Cross Society and is 99.9% ready for commissioning.
The DG CRSPHCDA, Dr Betta Edu stated this during her visit to Yala in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State last week.
The DG who was conducted round the Centre by the Contractor and the PHC coordinator expressed optimism that the people's dream of having back a new and befitting health centre after the war has finally become a reality. She thanked Sen. Ben Ayade for the support to the two waring communities and to the facilities in particular.
She strongly commended the Red Cross for its support for the renovation of the two health centres as well as the drugs and equipments donated, which would go a long way to provide quality and accessible healthcare services while urging the two communities to maintain peaceful status quo and give peace a chance always.
The community chiefs who were over excited expressed their gratitude through the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency to His Excellency Sen. Ben Ayade and International Red Cross for coming to their Aid, they promised to safeguard the facilities as well as mobilise the community to do same.
