ARCHIBONG LAUDS YOUTHS FOR EMBRACING GOV. AYADE’S INDUSTRIALIZATION POLICY
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. RoseMary Effiom Archibong has lauded Cross River youths for embracing Governor Ben Ayade's industrialization policy through the planned Cross River State Youth Economic Summit.
The Commissioner made this known when the Central Planning Committee for the forthcoming Cross River State Youth Economic Summit paid a courtesy call on her in the Conference Room of the Ministry.
Archibong commended the group for mainstreaming their youthful exuberance into participation in governance, urging them to withdraw from the cliché that says youths are the leaders of tomorrow and begin to see themselves as a contrived bunch of young leaders playing vital roles in the development of the State.
Mrs. Archibong stated that in a world that has become more economically-competitive, it was significant that our youths deem it expedient to engage themselves in conversations that would shape and define the economic status of Cross River State.
This, she said was in alignment with the vision of Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade-led administration.
She further averred that in line with the policy thrust of Governor Ben Ayade, which is focused by industrialization, it behoves Cross Riverians to aggregate their intellectual properties and positively affect the economic atmosphere of the State.
The Commissioner called on the body to become agent of change and fight against vices that debase the moral fabric of the society, assuring them of the Governor Ayade's supportive disposition towards youths and activities that engender societal development.
In his remarks, the Project Coordinator, Mr. Jerry Odey praised the leadership style of the Honourable Commissioner, her "Can Do" philosophy and motivational attitude towards the youths. He described the Cross River Economic Summit as a socio-economic platform championed by the youths with outstanding character, intelligence and entrepreneurial spirit that collaborate with various organizations, agencies, government at all levels, individuals, corporate bodies, philanthropists, to invest in youths and develop capacity in young people.
Odey pointed out that the maiden summit is targeted at training and developing of entrepreneurs' abilities and skills of at least five thousand youths of Cross River State in travels, tourism, finance, telecommunication, ICT, agriculture, etc.
The Coordinator revealed that the 14-day intensive training, which will commence immediately after the launch of the summit, also aims at floating a developmental intervention programme that looks at improving the youths, opening access to resources and transforming their consciousness positively.
Odey maintained that the programme would redeem youths from hopelessness, drug abuse, cultism and other vices.
