The reelection bid of the Member representing Bekwerra/Obudu/Obanliku federal constituency, Hon. Legor Idagbor has suffered a major blow as thousands of youths of Gakem village in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State have dumped him for his party's major opponent, Prince K-Jay Jedy Agba. Hon. Idagbor is a former two times council Chairman of Bekwerra local government while K-Jay, the Chairman of the State New Cities Development Board is the son of the Paramount Ruler of Obudu, Uti Ukani Joseph Davies Agba. Explaining their reasons for dumping their former council boss, the youths during an event over the weekend in Gakem said they decided to throw their weights behind the Obudu Prince because they were not pleased with the performances of the current lawmaker. They maintained that the need for a credible alternative was very apt especially at a time the youths and human capacity development was not being given the desired attention by authorities at all levels. Gakem youth leader, Mr. Ajor Ushie regretted that the incumbent member who they worked tirelessly for in 2015 had turned his back on them. "We worked for the incumbent but he has decided to turn his back on the plight of the youths and we have equally decided to look for who we will support. "Our leader is Omang Idiege, he has done well for us and so we have always been there with him, now that we are sure KJ is working with him, especially with his presence in this occasion, this has informed us that both of them are on the same plane, we will support him (KJ)". Responding, Prince Agba thanked them for the solidarity shown him even as he promised to connect properly with the grassroots if elected in 2019. According to him, "Let me thank you very sincerely for this solidarity shown me. For today, we all know that we have come to celebrate with our brother and his son who God has blessed with a partner. "I am still consulting, at the appropriate time, I will come back to Gakem to seek your support to represent you at the House of Reps. For the main time, your yearnings and aspirations as young people is our concern and will do the much we can to incorporate them in our developmental plan"
