Senator Bassey Gives Financial Assistance to Callers of Billboard Phone Lines
In a bid to ameliorate the standard of living of his constituents and give them a sense of belonging, Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey has given financial assistance to those who called the phone lines on his billboards.
The event took place, yesterday, at the Constituency Office of the Senator, Ibako Lane, State Housing Estate, Calabar.
Handing bank drafts to recipients on behalf of Senator Bassey, his Senior Legal Aid, Barr. Ita Essien said the third phase of the Senator’s gesture was to create an avenue for Senator Bassey to interface with his constituents, unlike the first two phases which were done through bank transfers.
Barr. Essien also stated that the occasion, which saw a massive 76 persons receive assistance courtesy of Senator Gershom Bassey, would quell the gauntlet of criticisms and censure from detractors and naysayers and further lend credence to the authenticity of the numbers on the billboards.
Reiterating Senator Bassey’s resolve towards the welfare of his constituents and Cross River State at large Essien urged recipients to make judicious use of assistance from Senator Bassey and called on constituents of the Southern Senatorial Districts, strangers and indigenes alike, to continue to call the numbers on the Senator’s billboards.
Receiving the bank draft, Fidelis Effa, a native of Akamkpa Local Government Area, expressed appreciation to Senator Bassey and showered encomium on the Senator’s ability to bring federal presence to the Southern Senatorial District of the State through humongous projects like the construction of the National Oil & Gas Park in Odukpani, the Federal Polytechnic, Akpabuyo, among numerous others.
Another recipient, Dorathy Maurice, spoke highly of the Senator’s gesture, adding that the assistance will go a long way to help in her shoemaking business, while urging Senator Bassey to keep on the good work to ensure that the confidence reposed on him by his constituents, through the Senatorial Mandate in 2015, is not let down.
