CRSG COMMITTED TO RETAINING MOST PEACEFUL STATE IN NIGERIA - HON. SIGNOR IDIEGE

Poised to ensure that Youth across the Eighteen Local Government Area of the State, pursue and maintain peace for the development of their communities and the State, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Skills Acquisition, Hon. Signor Omang Idiege has iterated the commitment of the Cross River State Government to maintain peace and retain it's status as one of the most peaceful States in the country, where tourists, Nigerians and Cross Riverians will dwell without fear.
Hon. Signor Idiege who made this known during a courtesy visit paid him by the Cross River State Command of Peace Corps of Nigeria, noted that the ideals of the Corps is in consonance with the mission statement of the Ministry as restructured by His Excellency, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade to include skills acquisition, which contains that; when the youth are positively engaged, crime rate and other Social vices will be checked, informing that the essence is for youth development through skills acquisition while sensitizing and reorientating the youth to rise up to leadership challenges and opportunities open to them.
Commissioner Idiege who also characterised Governor Ben Ayade as an epitome of peace and who would go to the ends of the Earth to ensure Cross River State is peaceful, pledged the support of the Ministry to the activities of the Corps, which according to him is also an aspect that greatly appeals to the State Governor, with a readiness to ensure that every Cross Riverian, talk and act peace, adding that the Ministry will be committed to their sensitization efforts and all other activities.
Speaking earlier, the Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria, Cross River State command, Patriot (Dr.) Okweche Dominic Odey said the visit was principally to congratulate the Hon Commissioner for a well deserved appointment and to acknowledge his track records from when he was a member of the State House of Assembly, and his commitment to the success and recognition of Peace Corps of Nigeria in Cross River State, adding that the vision of the Corps is to train, educate and re-orientate the youth on their future leadership roles in the society, the art of nation building, respect for constituted authorities, the rule of law and democratic principles as well as imparting high sense of citizenship and good leadership qualities in the youth.
Describing Governor Ben Ayade as a proponent of peace, the Commandant informed that no nation can develop without peace, hence the corps in order to maintain the statusquo of of Cross River State as the most peaceful State in the Country, has evolved a peace campaign around the nook and crannies of the State, tagged: "Let's Give Peace a Chance," adding that their activities relate to social and economic development and service towards nation building by providing a platform for social grooming and moulding the character of youth morally and intellectually.
Highpoints of the visit was the decoration of the Commissioner; the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. MaryJane Ngozi Ebri; and other Directors in the Ministry with the Medal of Peace Ambassadors in Cross River State and Nigeria; and the presentation of a customised congratulatory card to the Commissioner.
