Okweche Dominic admonishes officers on commitment to duty
The Commandant Peace Corps of Nigeria, Cross River State Patriot (Dr) Okweche Dominic, after National Executive meeting held on the 12th day of February 2020 decided to brief the State Executives and Local Government Commanders at the State headquarters today the 15th day of February 2020.
Commandant in his opening remarks charged the Officers to carry out their duties in a dignified manner to ensure that peace reigns in their various Local Government areas.
Dr. Okweche added that " it is time to sow, a time for commitment and a time to wake up and work for the advancement of the organization.
He opined that the Peace Corps Bill is still on course and the National Commandant has promised to work assiduously to meet the demands of their expectations and by God special grace the Bill will be taking before the end of this month.
On the upgrading of officers academically, Okweche emphasized on MOU between Peace Corps of Nigeria and the prestigious University of Ibadan, that no officer in Cross River State should miss the opportunity of acquiring the various qualifications based on their previous qualifications.
According to him, if the officers will make use of this opportunities today to develop themselves, better placement is sure when the Bill is assented to. So, we must do the needful and be patient and wait for the right time, the state Commandant assured.
Okweche also in commending the State Executives and Local Government Commanders on their compliance with directive from National Headquarters, he went further to encourage them to remain committed to the struggle.
State commandant also read the directive from the National Headquarters that henceforth none graduate is not permitted to hang PO rank (one star).
In conclusion, he stated that the Google Digital Skill training which is free for all officers in Cross River State Command is coming up at the various senatorial districts and the venue is as follows:
1. Southern Senatorial District, 20th February 2020. Venue: State Headquarters Calabar. Time: 10am prompt
2. Central Senatorial District, 21st February 2020, Venue: Peace Corps Office Ikom, Time: 10am prompt.
3. Northern Senatorial District, 22nd February 2020, Venue: Ogoja Council Secretariat, Time: 10am prompt.
Commandant Okweche harped on the need for more sensitisation on University of Ibadan Programme, Revalidation of ID, that such opportunity may not present itself again.
In summary, Okweche lauded the National Commandant for exhibiting high level of professionalism and commitment in ensuring the Peace Corps Bill sees the light of the day.
