GOV. AYADE TO BUILD REHABILITATION ABODE FOR LESS PRIVILEGED KIDS – CRSCPC CHAIRMAN
By Kingsley Agim
The State Governor, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade has promised to build a classy abode for the rehabilitation and education of the less privileged children in Cross River State.
The revelation was made by the Chairman, Cross River State Child Protection Commission, Chief (Mrs.) Theresa Ezama, during the Commission's Children's Day Celebration with the kids, at Cultural Centre Complex, Calabar.
Chief Ezama said the State Government's gesture in celebrating with the kids and the imminent promise to build a centre for them, was in line with this year's Children's Day theme, "Creating Safe Spaces for Children: Our Collective Responsibility."
The Chairman who felt distraught at the harrowing experiences the kids suffered, also expressed amazement in the abundance of talents inherent in the children, adding that the rehabilitation centre, when completed, will give a new lease of life to the children.
Chief Ezama also stated that her Commission is putting things in place to form special cells in schools to examine mental and physical torture, bullying, sexual harassment, favouritism and other ills against children.
She revealed that her Commission would organise seminars in schools to fight drugs abuse, exams malpractice, violence, acceptance of dignity of students, as well as improve teaching styles for teachers.
Majority of the kids signified interest to go to school, while others chose the option of learning other vocations.
