The Management Of Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority condemn in strong term the arbitrary location of gas and fuel stations at residential areas in Calabar metropolis.
While the agency Commiserate with the resident of effio-ette Junction in Calabar on the incident of gas station explosion.
Speaking, DG of the Agency, Mr Kingsley Ita Ikpeme call on the owners of this gas and fuel stations located at residential area in Calabar to as matter of urgency relocate such businesses and structures.
He noted that failure to adhere to this directives, such structures will be demolish at the course of the perpetuators and they will be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others, due to the health and security implications.
According to him Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority is determine to correct the current unbridle development and urban sprawling in Calabar and also seeks to expand infrastructure into new development areas for the benefits of the larger populace, to decongest the state capital.
Equally, the agency calls on citizen who are fond of erecting structures and businesses under high tension and telecommunication mass to urgently remove such illegal structures to avoid the wrath of the law and save innocent lives and property.
In the same vain, as the raining season approaches, we urge citizens to avoid erecting structures by water ways, avoid dumping of refuse into the drains to avoid flooding, loss of lives and property.
"We call on all to emulate the effort of the state Governor, His Excellency, Sen (Prof) Ben Ayade, aim at maintaining a clean and Green Cross River State, which the state in noted for.
Cross Riverians should as part of their contributions, plant trees and grasses on the verges as it would protect those vergers from erosion and check distilling of our drains says Ikpeme.
He said Cross River State is noted as hub of tourism, we urge all Cross Riverians to maintain hygienic and clean environment, by ensuring that waste generated are properly disposed to prevent outbreak of epidemic and flooding in the state.
