No fewer than 3,000 people including children in three local government areas in Cross River state populary known as ABC are expected to benefit from a medical outreach organised by the Save Life Foundation an NGO and Ayade Home Health Services.
This was made known by the President of the foundation and Commissioner for Transport and Marine Services, Mr Saviour Nyong during the flag-off at Ikot Offiong Ambai, Akpabuyo.
According to him Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Calabar South Local government areas will benefit from the scheme aimed at improving the health status of the people as the NGO was committed to creating awareness on personal preventive measure towards healthy living in the rural areas.
He said that patients were being treated on the spot, while patients with critical aliment were referred to the general hospital for immediate medical treatment.
Nyong said drugs and medical supplies were also distributed to the community's health care centres in the areas.
Also Speaking, Honourable Commissioner for Information, Barr (Mrs) Rosemary Archibong said the essence of the outreach is to bring healthcare closer to the grassroots as pregnant women and nursing mothers will be given treated mosquito nets to protect mother and child against mosquito bite with cancer examination as the State Government under the leadership of Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade is moving to curtail this diseases and ailments at rural communities.
Earlier Speaking, CEO of Vital Signs and Head of Ayade Homecare Services, Dr Genevieve Barnaby said this outreach will enable Rural dwellers get access to medicare.
According to her, Rural residents experience barriers to healthcare that limit their ability to get the care they need.
"In order for rural residents to have sufficient healthcare access, necessary and appropriate services is made available through the collaborative effort of Commissioner for Transport and Marine Services, Mr Saviour Nyong and Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Mrs Rosemary Archibong who are indigenes of the area.
Appreciating the effort of the State Government, One of the beneficiary, Edem Nsa hail the initiative and thank the NGO for providing medical services for their people.
