POLIO EXERCISE BEGINS SOON, 100% COVERAGE ASSURED -DR BETTA EDU.

Cross River State has been adjudged as one of the best-performing states in routine immunisation coverage in Nigeria, with little variation between its administrative data and the outcome of the National Immunisation Coverage Survey conducted.

This was disclosed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) State Coordinator in Cross River State,  Tom Igbu during the State Planning meeting at the Conference Room of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Agency for 2018 Immunisation Plus days (IPDS) which would be flag-off on Sunday in Calabar South LGA.

WHO lauds the Governors effort to improve immunisation coverage in the state.

According to him, WHO has conducted a state level training  for State Technical Facilitators, Independent Monitors, Ward and LGA step down training.

Earlier Speaking, DG CRSPHCDA, Dr Betta Edu attributed the State performance on data and immunisation coverage to Governor Ben Ayade and Prof Ivara Esu effort at championing an incentive-based system to accelerate results in healthcare delivery especially as it concerns immunisation.

She noted that this year IPDs will involve a cash reward to the best performing LGAs in routine immunisation.

Partners at the meeting commended the governor for the initiative, stressing that it would spur local councils and health workers to be at their best as they carry out routine immunisation exercise in the state. Guardians are encouraged to ensure their wards receive polio immunisation begining from Saturday this week during the exercise

Partners cut across AFENET,  UNICEF,  WHO,  National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Rotary Club and Representative of State Ministry of Health were in attendance at the planning meeting.
