The event saw the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Aye Henshaw, leading the Directors and Staff in rendering birthday songs in honour of one of the most pivotal, disciplined, and resourceful personalities in the Governor Ben Ayade-led cabinet, in the person of Mrs. RoseMary Effiom Archibong.
‘’I thank God almighty for bringing me this far. I feel younger even as I grow older; more energetic, physically and mentally fit. It is God’s doing, not supplements, not food, but God.
I want to thank the State Governor Sen. Ben Ayade for giving me the opportunity to serve as Commissioner for Information and Orientation, breaking the notion that Governor Ayade loves only the youths. Indeed governor Ayade has a good mix of the young and not so young which has contributed to the success story of his administration”, she enthused.
Mrs. Archibong affirmed with admiration that at 50, Governor Ayade rather than close down the state for celebration quietly thanked God and went ahead with matters of the State.
“This is exactly what I had in mind but I am overwhelmed by this surprise demonstration of love and unity that exist amongst the staff of this ministry” Mrs. Archibong remarked.
She noted that this was suggestive of the unity and corporation that dwells amongst the staff and such bond is key to achieving the goals of the Ministry.
“I am particularly overwhelmed by the love you all have shown me today. I pray that the good lord should bless you,” she enthused.
The General Manager Cross River State Newspaper Corporation Cronicle, Mr. Emma Akpong, who was represented by the Editor-in-Chief Mr. Samuel Egbala, described Mrs. Archibong as an embodiment of wisdom and leadership prowess that has steered the information ship to greater height.
Also speaking, the General Manager Cross River Broadcasting Corporation, Dr. Mrs. Theresa Essien congratulated Mrs. Archibong and wished her more fruitful years ahead.
Presenting the birthday cake, the state director of information Mrs. Pauline Eba traced the public service exposure of Mrs Archibong from her youthful days as manager in UAC Lagos to Director/secretary to board in the university of Calabar teaching hospital, special adviser to a federal Minister, consultant to a World Bank project, chairman and member of boards culminating in her present appointment.
The surprise birthday featured prayers for Mrs. Archibong and her family, growth for the Ministry and success for the administration of Prof. Ayade.
