SWAN-C’RIVER MARKS 40TH ANNIVERSARY WITH THANKSGIVING

The Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN), Cross River State Chapter, 29th April, 2018, marked her 40th anniversary with a thanksgiving service at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Henshaw Town Parish, Calabar.



In her remarks, the President of SWAN in the State, Mrs. Effanga Henshaw stated that the event which went on across all states of the federation was aimed at thanking the Almighty God for seeing them through the association's forty years of existence.



Mrs. Henshaw said the executive of SWAN which was barely inaugurated in December, 2017 has recorded tremendous strides and grown in leaps and bounds, adding that as female accountants, their aspiration are not only to serve the profession, but also contribute meaningfully to the development of society.



The President pointed out that in a male-dominated discipline such as accounting; it has become pertinent for more females to veer into the accounting profession. She prayed that God that has made the Cross River Chapter of SWAN waxed strong in spite of its fledgling existence in the State will make it stronger in the years to come, while appreciating the support shown by their male counterparts in the State.


Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Mr. Kelly Ayamba said they deemed it important to support the female wing of ICAN in thanking God for its fortieth anniversary celebration.


Mr. Ayamba felicitated with SWAN on its fortieth anniversary, describing it as a "great feat." He also prayed that God continues to strengthen SWAN in the State for the betterment of the profession and the society at large.


In his admonition, the Associate Minister, Rev. Anoke Otu thanked the leadership of SWAN in Cross River for their choice of Henshaw Town Parish of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria for their thanksgiving service and prayed the Almighty's divine hand on SWAN in the State and Nigeria at large.


As part of its celebration, the body also visited the Motherless Babies Home at Ekpo Nsa Street, off Uwanse Lane, Calabar with donations of assorted gifts items.


Presenting the items to the management of the home, Mrs. Effanga Henshaw said SWAN had deemed it necessary to visit and share with the kids as part of activities marking its fortieth anniversary.



Receiving the gifts on behalf of the management of the home, Madam Victoria Asuquo thanked SWAN for the gesture and promised to make judicious use of the gifts for the betterment of the children. She also prayed for replenishment and God's blessings to members of the group.


The event of SWAN fortieth anniversary climaxed with a reception at the State Secretariat of the body at State Housing Estate, Calabar.
