GOV. AYADE SUES FOR ETHICAL JOURNALISTIC PRACTICE, AS HE COMMISSIONS SPARKLING 92.3 FM

The State Governor, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade has called on media practitioners in Cross River to adhere strictly to ethical principles guiding journalism for effective information and education of the citizenry, especially on the policies, projects and programmes of government.
The Governor made this call during the official commissioning of Sparkling 92.3 FM on Friday, 12 May, 2018.
Commissioning the station, Governor Ayade, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. RoseMary Archibong, assured of government's readiness to partner with the station, pointing out that with the present administration's industrial revolution going on, the number of tourists trooping in and the State's new dimension as the economic nerve-centre of the country, Sparkling 92.3 FM would have an abundance of information to adorn their reportage.
He also commended the management of the Station for setting up such an edifice with state-of-the-art facilities, adding that Sparkling 92.3 FM has come to add spark to an already sparkling State.
Senator Ayade assured management of the station of a conducive working atmosphere in Cross River, noting that his administration places high premium on freedom of information, freedom expression and see the media an essential mediator between government and the governed.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Member representing Akamkpa State 1 Constituency, Hon. Matthew Olory enjoined the management of the station to beam their light towards the House of Assembly and report accordingly, as well as expressing the House's readiness to support Sparkling 92.3 FM.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Managing Director of Sparkling 92.3 FM, Mr. Enimini Innocent thanked the State Governor, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade for the honour of formally commissioning the station, pledging that Sparkling 92.3 FM shall aim to foster cohesion, unity and bridge the socio-cultural, ethno-political and economic divides of the State.
"We hope to do this by bringing people and communities together, providing an unbiased platform that truly accommodates, listens and responds to the divergent voices and views through dependable information, best of entertainment and greater audience participation," the Managing-Director added.
Mr. Innocent further stated that as a radio station, Sparkling 92.3 FM will join forces with government and other well-meaning institutions to promote dignity, equality and and all-encompassing society.
Highpoint of the occasion featured the Honourable Commissioner the first symbolic news broadcast, after fielding questions in Government activities.
