LET US CONSOLIDATE OUR GAINS!
Defining democracy on practical terms, perhaps the hallmark of every true democracy. This definition typically is not done with words, actions speak a better language in these corridors.
Detractors have often taken to address the seating member representing Obubra Etung Federal constituency as the silent one. Hon. Mike Etaba has silently facilitated jobs for Many constituents making life worth living for them.
What haters do not appreciate is the fact that silence is golden, and has an eloquence on its own. In the midst of all this silence, Hon Mike Etaba has a number of sterling achievements which we make bold to bring to the fore in commemoration of his three years in office.
Among others, he has: a superbly articulated Bill for an Act to amend the National Directorate of Employment Act 2014, Laws of the Federation to create Skills Acquisition, Artisans and Vocational Centre for Self- Empowerment Programmme for National Development and Related Matters, a couple of Motions, including the one calling on the Federal Government and relevant agencies to intervene in the communal crises in Obubra and Etung LGA'S respectively, reinstatement of Mr. Orok Orok Takon (Ebhari-Mgbe) into the Police Force after six years, facilitation of the UBE special intervention for 2015-2016 to Schools in Ovokwa, Yala Nkum, and Apiapum in Obubura and Bendeghe and Nsofang Communities in Etung L.G.A.'S respectively as part of his Constituency Projects, also donated Vans to Obubra and Etung police force to better enhance the security network in the Constituency,
Interestingly our visionary leader has intellectually contributed immensely to the growth of Democracy through his fervent contributions in the house proceedings and has sponsored so many life enhancing bills as follows:
(1). Energy Commission of Nigeria Act (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill, 2018 (HB.1290)
(2) Commercial and Industrial Development Authority (Promotion and Incentive) Bill, 2018 (HB.1291)
3. Bill for an Act to Provide a Legal Framework for the Establishment of Commercial and Industrial Development Authority which shall provide Designated Areas for Industrial Estates, Parks, Clusters, Enterprises Zones and Incubators in each Zone of the Country, Provide for the Establishment, Development or Maintenance of Industrial undertaking and Incentives to Industrialist; and for Related Matters (HB.1291)

We still remember the cash gifts of half a million naira given to each constituency as part of the build up towards the Easter. celebrations. We do not deny the many claims that he is the youngest member in the green chambers, Detractors can go on wailing. We know that the performance of an honorable member is not determined by how much noise he makes; keep on keeping on, our silent achiever. It is basically interests and jealousy that has attracted him so many enemies. But, what one is, he is. And, Hon Mike Etaba is a jolly good fellow.
As you mark three solid years in office, we the Cross River Visionary Youths commemorate this day with you. We know you have brought us so much goodness. We only beg that you continue in your bid to see a better Obubra-Etung. Never mind the critics; most of them are Mike Etaba wannabes. The next one year will be better. Your second term in office is not negotiable, as we want to have more of you. We the Cross River Visionary Youths wish you a happy anniversary, and a happy Democracy day.
