At the Cross River State Sports Commission today, a press briefing was held and graced by Hon. Orok Duke; Chairman Cross River State Sports Commission, Chief Tony Undiandeye; Special Adviser Public Affairs, Patience Okon, Cecilia Otu, Offiong Edem, Vivian and Orok Etim; athletes who represented the state and country at different levels of sports competition.
Hon. Orok Duke who expressed success at certain levels recorded that Cross River State competitors did return with awards ranging from Gold, to Silver and bronze medals and this to a huge extent has proven the fact that he and his team has been working assiduously to ensure that sports lovers were duly trained to conquer in competitions.
He reinforced that the mandate which remains to restore sports to where it was has led to the approval of 40,000,000 naira fund for the building of standard structures for games which has been ploughed in accordingly.
With the drive to make the commission an outstanding home of games, I Hon.Orok duke will ensure that the squash field, table tennis, weight lifting, volley ball, basket ball and wrestling gym is built to standard for wonderful performance output.
He said, What is worth doing is worth doing well and whatever is worth sacrificing to achieve our goals and visions is worth trying. So,regardless of us not gaining support from Sen. Rose Oko, Sen. Owan Enoh and Sen. Gershom Bassey, we as a commission with talented young persons will forge ahead and align with those willing as I salute the contributions of His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade of Cross River State for his support so far for this vision.
Finally, the LAFC team also known as the Linda Ayade Football Competition team was introduced and was said to feature at the amateur level of competition and grow thereafter according to performance.
