DR BETTA EDU PAYS VISIT TO RECENTLY DESTROYED HEALTH FACILITY AT INYIMA IN YAKURR LGA.

It's not cost effective to fix health facilities in War ridden communities. Peace is necessary for Development and progress- Dr Betta Edu.

Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu has charged the people of Inyima and Onyadama Community in Yakurr and Obubra Local Government Area respectively to lay down their arms and live in peace with one another following the renewed Communal clash.

The two communities, who have been involved in boundary disputes, were asked to see each other as brothers and sisters.

Dr Edu gave the charge while addressing  the people of Inyima community during a state of facility damaged assessment tour of the affected only health facility-PHC Inyima.

The DG urged the two neighbouring communities to embrace dialogue and amicable resolution of their boundary disputes, rather than take laws into their hands.

She pointed out that their actions could undermine the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state and affect the Healthcare delivery in the area. Edu reminded them of the pains and anguish usually associated with communal clashes occasioned by disputed boundary issues.

According to her it is not cost effective to fix health facilities in War ridden communities as peace is necessary for Developmental progress. She warned that the state government would be compelled to take drastic measures against any individual or group found fomenting trouble in the area.

Dr Edu assured the people that government had put measures in place to ensure that the boundary dispute was resolved and sued for their support and co-operation to achieve set goals.

Also, the in charge of the destroyed health facility in Inyima decried the incessant boundary dispute in the area and pleaded for urgent Government intervention so the facility can be rehabilitated as it is the only serving health facility in the area.
