It was Winston Churchill,former British prime minister who said " In war you can only be killed once but in politics, many times".
Am sure in making the above statement, Churchill took into consideration the crude and heartless politics played by some politicians. He thought about the backstabbing even by the people you least expect. Am sure he also thought about the unimaginable length a politician can go in order to score a political point. The bareface lies, campaign of calumny, wicked and baseless propaganda et'al.
If they is one aspirant so long as the race for Central Senatorial district is concern that has literally been killed overtime is Barr Chris Agara. His opponents are so threatened about his rising popularity to the extend that they have resorted to cheap blackmail and baseless propaganda all in a bid to stop him.
Today, he is not popular and not on ground, tomorrow he is unreachable and only depending on the Governor to make him Senator, next tomorrow, what you hear is, it is government money he is throwing around claiming it is his personal resources. The stories plenty!
Funny enough, most of the people propagating this stories are people I feel should know better. Am sure they do anyway but only giving credence to Henry Kissinger who said " Ninety percent of the politicians give the other ten percent a bad reputation".
I make bold to say that, as at today no aspirant is more accepted,believed and welcomed than Barr Chris Agara across the Senatorial District. From Yakurr down to Boki, the people seems unanimous in their decision to do away with professional politicians who do nothing but to lie to them and abuse their collective sensibilities. The people seem to be asking the right questions this time around and no one else seem to be answering this practical questions to their satisfaction better than Barr Chris Agara.
They is virtually no place Barr Chris Agara has visited in the course of his consultation that people do not recount the several assistance he has rendered to them, some of which he can't recall. His goodwill towards people, his readiness to offer a shoulder for people to lean on in time of need, his humility in the midst of plenty, the sincerity of purpose around his aspiration and above all,the fear of God in him for me, is the reason behind the massive acceptability of his aspiration.
His agenda to turn around the agricultural fortune of the people of the Central Senatorial District through legislations that would see the people accessing interest free loans and grants from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Agriculture and other local and international organisations if elected is nothing but a game changer for a people that are blessed with fertile land and rich agricultural endowments that is enough to make them comfortable if not millionaires.
This is not forgetting the fact that Barr Chris is already in collaboration with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Societies, Mr Emmanuel Anoh, the Chairman of farmers council in the State and other relevant agencies towards encouraging rice cultivation among Cross Riverians through an intervention from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in line with the State government vision of improving Agricultural development in the State.
The truth of the matter is that, the man is not telling the people history neither is he is struggling who is more experience in the business of Lawmaking with anybody. He is simply doing practical. He is doing more of the action and less of the talking. This is the new language the people understand...
Like I have always maintained, good men not good politician is what the people of the Central Senatorial District need come 2019.
